Even though Webber Street Centre is closed, we are still serving guests during the refurbishment through a takeaway breakfast service!
Webber Street Centre has closed its doors for several months from July 2024 as, thanks to the generosity of supporters, London City Mission can renovate the building.
The aim is to open and serve guests at the newly refurbished Centre before the winter.
Webber Street staff are maintaining a takeaway service for the guests throughout the closure, offering hot drinks and breakfast on the steps of the Day Centre.
Importantly, they are also maintaining relationships and meeting nearby with guests seeking additional support, friendly company, or the opportunity to continue their spiritual journey.
The upgrade includes:
- new boiler large enough to accommodate both hot showers and heating during winter
- better ventilation to eliminate damp and provide a warm and welcoming space
- new consultation rooms
- improved access for those with limited mobility
- refreshing the bedrooms at Corner House – LCM’s short-term supported accommodation
Currently, the total cost of renovations is estimated to be around £800k. Thanks to the generosity of some of our kind supporters, we are pleased to be able to start the work, but we are still seeking partners to help us finish this project in time for winter.
